Constructed in honor of Napoleon I, this column is near the camp of Boulogne from which Napoleon thought to invade England. It is the central point in a long monumental avenue which goes from the Boulogne countryside to the monument commemorating the first Légion of Honor and onto the sea. There is also a historical garden notwithstanding how difficult gardening is near salt water.
